In many hotels there are so-called driver rooms. That’s where the drivers stay. It’s the custom. But not all of them have them. If the tourist has already booked a hotel in advance, it is possible that either the hotel does not offer a driver room or will not accept the driver. This seems a bit strange to us, but „other countries, other customs“. This means that if you choose the hotel with the driver on the way, he almost always gets a (free) overnight stay.
In the high season it might make sense in Agra, but especially in Varansi it is neccessary to book in advance, if you want to have a nice hotel at the Ganges. Especially in Rajasthan there is a very good infrastructure and many hotels, which you can actually only book during the trip. Thus, one is flexible. In the northern Himalayas, especially the further away one deviates from the classic
tourist routes, there are also some smaller overnight stay possibilities that cannot be found in the internet. And these are often nice and authentic. One really has to choose them on the fly. In Dharamsala there can also be bottlenecks. When booking a room, you should pay attention to the location and the view to the mountains, because it is magnificent. Those who do not want to commit
themselves immediately should choose the hotels on the fly during the trip.
This depends a lot on your own travel preferences and what you want to see. But due to the long journey alone, one should not plan a stay in India too short. In the „Tours“ approximate time indications are given. But what should not be underestimated is the time needed for the long distances. The roads are quite good, but on the other hand the traffic is very heavy. Especially in the villages one is often stuck in traffic jams.
Basically, you can visit India all year round, but always with regard to the respective regions. Pleasant temperatures and dry weather in Rajasthan are from October to April. From May on it gets hot and the Himalayas would be more suitable. Now it blooms there also particularly beautifully. You have to expect rain in August and September. October is then mostly dry and clear again, which ensures good visibility, especially in the mountaineous regions. But also in India the climate change has produced certain consequences, i.e. the monsoon times are shifting, so that exact information becomes more and more difficult.
This depends on what is agreed. It can be the driver, the vehicle and the hotel. Or even without overnight stay. With driver plus car, his working time is always included. You do not have to worry about his accommodation, because most hotels have driver rooms. (see „Where does the driver stay overnight“). Of course, all insurance, taxes, fuel and road fees are included in the price.
Of course you want to know how much drivers with cars cost on a journey. Unfortunately it is not possible to give a general answer to this question, because the costs depend on different factors. First of all, the prices for the respective vehicles are different in themselves. The length of the route to be driven is the next item. Then each state in India charges a different amount of car tax on upon entry – a completely different system than ours. And it depends on how long you stay in this area. There are also motorway tolls. All this is calculated individually for your travel plans.
